About Glenn Gemmell
As an Art Director and a photographer, I find beauty in the graphical interplay of flat two-dimensional colors and shapes. And yet, I’m also drawn to the emotional power and drama conveyed by well-crafted photographs. I see the simple beauty of everyday life — seascapes, buildings, and people, that have become rich in character — and to me, even more beautiful — as a result of the passage of time. Their stories are what I see, and their beauty is what I seek to capture, as I work with color, texture, time, patterns, composition, and light.
I work quickly to capture the impression, using a Nikon digital or film camera. When I return to the studio, I work digitally on an Apple PowerMac G5, with Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, sometimes building and removing, but always editing. The process often takes days or weeks, striving to convey the impression and emotions that I want to communicate.
Final images are printed with an Epson Stylist 4000 onto Epson photo papers or other archival media, using Epson archival inks.
